Clinical Instructor – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for supervising the Infusion center at Stony Brook Cancer Center

Department: Medicine – Division of Hematology & Oncology

Required Qualifications: Current NYS RN license. Master’s degree in Nursing. NYS license and certification as an adult and/or family nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant’s degree with NYS License and certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the management and treatment of cancer patients. Excellent communication skills. Experience with chemotherapy toxicities and infusion reactions.

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to work collaboratively with cardiologists in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Hours: Seasonal, must be able to rotate at the hospital, rotate weekends & must have availability to be on call.

Job Functions:

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides cardiac care to patients.

Perform comprehensive inpatient/outpatient visits which include:

Outpatient:

• Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic and/or cardiac patients with potential health problems.
• Establish medical diagnoses. Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice.
• Perform stress testing, provide appropriate direction to office staff regarding patient care issues (triage calls etc. Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams.
• Communicates effectively with referring and primary health care providers. Manage independent outpatient clinical practice and coverage for collaborating physicians, including rotating on call weekday/weekend night and weekend coverage.
• Maintain clinical documentation according to group practice.
• Educates patients and families on treatment and wellness care plans

Inpatient:

• Conducts comprehensive health history and physical assessment of patients with acute health problems.
• Performs admission history and physical, develops, manages and modifies treatment plans.
• Participates in daily rounding and collaborates with attending or consulting team to adjust plans of care.
• Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams. Facilitates referrals to appropriate community health facilities, agencies and resources.
• Discharges hospitalized patients at the direction of the attending physician.
• Prepares and dictates discharge summaries of patients’ hospitalization and clinic care.
• Assists with intraoperative processes and procedures, when needed, and as granted through privileging processes.

Practice Details:

· Join 2 established Gastroenterologists

· Clinic: Meeting House Lane Medical, Hampton Bays, NY

· Hospital: Stony Brook Southampton Hospital – Level III Trauma Center and sole emergency care provider on Long Island’s South Fork

· Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

· Call: 1:3 rotation

· EHR: Cerner (transitioning fully from NextGen)

Overview:

The Psychiatrist role includes providing a mix of outpatient clinical services, and hospital-based consultation/liaison services to meet the needs of patients presenting for care. The Psychiatrist collaborates closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, hospitalists, emergency physicians and administrative leadership to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care across sites. This role blends direct patient care with interdisciplinary coordination, and contributes to clinical quality improvement efforts to ensure accessible, high-quality mental health services. The Psychiatrist will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team at Southampton Hospital and will interface regularly with other psychiatrists and behavioral health providers across the Stony Brook Medicine continuum.

Essential Job Functions:

· Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments and treatment planning both in-person and via telehealth.

· Provide medication management and brief supportive psychotherapy as needed.

· Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.

· Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care.

· Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

· Participate in team meetings, clinical case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

The Medical Biller is a key member of the revenue cycle team. The biller participates in the data entry of billing information to ensure accurate and timely billing submissions.

• Review and compare provider office schedules to electronic charge batches.
• Approve charges for claim release
• Report missing charges/documentation to supervisor and/or provider
• Manual charge posting as needed for hospital, SNF, etc.
• Review and/or work edit work files and send to appropriate party for coding review, physician review or supervisor review in a timely manner.
• Update patient demographic and insurance information when needed
• Answer incoming patient, provider and insurance calls
• Review automated eligibility files and run manual eligibility as needed to confirm insurance coverage
• Update patient accounts with collection agency activity
• Provide weekly updates to supervisors on all services and issues

• Perform screening and measuring procedures according to protocol. This may include, but is not limited to height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, EKG. Record findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) Cerner system. Record pharmacy information for each patient for E-Prescribing.
• Assist the Lead Medical Assistant with flow of the physician to comply with schedule
• Draw blood when necessary.
• Maintain room cleanliness.
