The IT Project Manager will be a member of the Stony Brook Medicine IT PMO Team and will report to the SBM Director, IT Program Manager. JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provides health care to patients including diagnosis and treatment as team leader.
  • Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, and makes diagnosis, and orders appropriate, standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary.
  • Evaluates procedure results. Provides preventative as well as acute care.
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patients’ plan of care.
  • Provides patient education about underlying medical condition, self-management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailors instructions to patients’ individual circumstances.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding therapeutic regimens, promoting wellness and health maintenance.

The Nurse Midwife is responsible for the providing prenatal education and support, attending childbirth, providing encouragement during labor and delivery. Provides care to women during pregnancies and deliveries and calls on Physician if complications develop.

  • Performs nurse duties related to midwifery including gynecological exams, preconception care, prenatal care, labor and delivery care, care after birth.
  • Educates women about different types of care available.
  • Emphasizes patient education, active participation, and clear communication, between the provider and the woman and individualized healthcare experience.
