Our Pulmonology practice is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible pulmonary, critical care physician with sleep medicine board-eligibility or certification preferred but not required to join our growing team. The successful applicant will work with nine pulmonologists offering state-of-the-art pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine services. We are incredibly flexible and welcome recently trained fellows. Compensation is above average and can expand further in part to experience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES

• Outpatient work in an office-based setting across three locations
• Inpatient rounding rotation including intensive care and intermediate care patients in tertiary care facility and community hospitals
• Potential work in an AASM accredited 4-bed sleep center

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to work collaboratively with cardiologists in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Hours:Full time, must be able to rotate at the hospital, rotate weekends & must have availability to be on call.

Job Functions:

Under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides cardiac care to patients.

Perform comprehensive inpatient/outpatient visits which include:

Outpatient:

• Conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of patients with acute, chronic and/or cardiac patients with potential health problems.
• Establish medical diagnoses. Write specific orders within the limits of the practice agreement/scope of practice.
• Perform stress testing, provide appropriate direction to office staff regarding patient care issues (triage calls etc. Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams.
• Communicates effectively with referring and primary health care providers. Manage independent outpatient clinical practice and coverage for collaborating physicians, including rotating on call weekday/weekend night and weekend coverage.
• Maintain clinical documentation according to group practice.
• Educates patients and families on treatment and wellness care plans

Inpatient:

• Conducts comprehensive health history and physical assessment of patients with acute health problems.
• Performs admission history and physical, develops, manages and modifies treatment plans.
• Participates in daily rounding and collaborates with attending or consulting team to adjust plans of care.
• Manages or independently performs evaluative and treatment necessary to provide an appropriate response to life threatening emergency situations until the arrival of emergency response teams. Facilitates referrals to appropriate community health facilities, agencies and resources.
• Discharges hospitalized patients at the direction of the attending physician.
• Prepares and dictates discharge summaries of patients’ hospitalization and clinic care.
• Assists with intraoperative processes and procedures, when needed, and as granted through privileging processes.

The Registered Nurse Administrator oversees and manages the daily functions of the surgical center and collaborates with the physicians and medical staff. This position provides clinical leadership, management, facilitates the provision of patient care services; coordinates nursing resources; supports, guides and serves as clinical consultant to staff; represents the facility to the patients, families and external agencies as required; serves as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other departments and disciplines regarding patient care and other related matters.

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Clinical Systems Application Specialist is a valuable member of our team who will develop and support all applications/systems that the Clinical Information Systems department is responsible for. The incumbent may be assigned to a project team as part of technical build resource, or support any production systems to ensure the availability of the applications. The Clinical Systems Application Specialist may also oversee the work of other analysts as needed.

The Clinical Systems Application Specialist will be responsible for build in Cerner Millennium, and also investigating and resolving Cerner application issues using core Cerner tools such as Bedrock, Discern, Core Code Builder, Core Event Manager, and Ops View Scheduler. Daily responsibilities will include researching and building new functionality as needed, working with clinical end users and the vendor to determine the best and most innovative solutions.

• Provides support to Clinical Information systems applications which includes our organizations EHR and cross applications used in the clinical setting

Our neurology practice is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible neurologist to join our team full time. The successful applicant will work with two other neurologists and a physician assistant. We are incredibly flexible and welcome recently trained residents. Compensation is above average and depends in part on experience. No on-call weekend work is necessary.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

• Provides health care to patients including diagnosis of neurological conditions such as stroke, dementia and neuromuscular diseases and treatment.
• Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, and makes diagnosis, and orders appropriate, standard laboratory and diagnostic procedures as necessary.
• Must be competent to perform electrodiagnostic studies, NCV/EMG and EEG as needed.
• Evaluates procedure results. Provides preventative as well as acute care.
• Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patients plan of care.
• Provides patient education about underlying medical condition, self-management of acute or chronic illnesses and tailors instructions to patients individual circumstances.

The Nurse Midwife is responsible for the providing prenatal education and support, attending childbirth, providing encouragement during labor and delivery. Provides care to women during pregnancies and deliveries and calls on Physician if complications develop.

• Performs nurse duties related to midwifery including gynecological exams, preconception care, prenatal care, labor and delivery care, care after birth.

Responsible for the daily coordination of the clinical aspects of the medical office while collaborating with the front desk scheduling to ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction and care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Evaluate lead Medical Assistant for need of placing patients in the examination rooms and document for the physician the medication log , vitals and the main reason for the visit in Cerner EMR
• Perform screening and measuring procedures according to protocol. This may include, but is not limited to height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, EKG. Record findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) Cerner system. Record pharmacy information for each patient for E-Prescribing.
• Assist the Lead Medical Assistant with flow of the physician to comply with schedule
• Draw blood when necessary. Copy patient insurance card to attach to requisition.
• Maintain room cleanliness.
• Assist in obtaining radiology reports, assessment reports and or outside physician documentation..
• Schedule ancillary services and other procedures as needed.
• Maintain, scan patient charts into EMR
• Call in renewal of prescriptions as directed by Physician. Review with physician for any changes needed.

An Anesthesiologist who is in charge of managing pain and patient sedation before, during and after medical procedures. Their duties include studying medication interactions to select medications, communicating with patients about pain management plans and collaborating with other doctors and surgeons to limit discomfort and relieve pain during an operation.

The responsibilities of an Anesthesiologist include their daily functions, critical tasks and important responsibilities. These duties usually include:

• Evaluating patients vital signs, medical histories, allergies, current medication use, and other risk factors
• Working with a medical team to design a patients treatment plan
• Supervising nurses when they administer anesthesia to patients before procedures
• Monitoring vital signs of the patient during surgery and adjusting anesthetics as needed
• Maintaining detailed notes on patient treatment, dosing and vital signs
• Continuing care after surgery to control the level of pain relief and consciousness
• Communicating continuing care instructions to specialists and nurses

General Summary:

Responsible for performing a variety of duties that may be both clinical and administrative tasks.
