Overview:

The Psychiatrist role includes providing a mix of outpatient clinical services, and hospital-based consultation/liaison services to meet the needs of patients presenting for care. The Psychiatrist collaborates closely with primary care providers, behavioral health clinicians, hospitalists, emergency physicians and administrative leadership to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care across sites. This role blends direct patient care with interdisciplinary coordination, and contributes to clinical quality improvement efforts to ensure accessible, high-quality mental health services. The Psychiatrist will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team at Southampton Hospital and will interface regularly with other psychiatrists and behavioral health providers across the Stony Brook Medicine continuum.

Essential Job Functions:

? Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic assessments and treatment planning both in-person and via telehealth.

? Provide medication management and brief supportive psychotherapy as needed.

? Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.

? Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care.

? Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

? Participate in team meetings, clinical case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

? Adhere to clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
