At Stony Brook Medicine, our Voice Engineer configures, maintains, and provides end-user support for the enterprise phone system and related support systems. They provide support for all IP phones (VOIP), phone services, voice messages, call centers, Unified Communications Solutions (UC), conferencing solutions and all phone related connectivity necessary to support business and production needs.

Duties of a Telecommunications Engineer may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Provide day to day support and maintenance of Cisco WebEx Calling, Cisco Unified Communication Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity Connection (CUC), Cisco Instant Messaging & Presence Service (IM&P), Cisco Contact Center Express (UCCX), Cisco Analog gateways, Cisco CUBEs, PSTN circuits, phone features and associated components. the telecommunication environment (TDM, VOIP & UCC) systems as well end user devices.
  • Support end user requests including troubleshooting issues and MAC requests using internal ticketing system.
  • Build user profiles and configure Cisco phones on WebEx Control Hub. Maintain and modify existing WebEx Contact Centers call flows.
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities including sniffer tracing of data networks, call centers, Unified Communications Solutions (UC), conferencing solutions and all phone related connectivity necessary to support business and production needs.
  • Partner with vendors, carriers, project managers, technical staff and end users on troubleshooting issues or support business initiatives including migrations or relocations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support operations.
  • Works closely with management and staff to ensure IP network is stable and suitable to provide quality voice and data grade communication.
