Responsible for the daily coordination and care requirements of a small, yet busy, community based medical specialty office. Requires specialized knowledge, clinical judgment, and nursing skills. The LPN is part of a team using patient care skills to meet established practice guidelines, office policies and regulatory standards, under supervision of the physician and nurse practitioner.
Essential Job Functions:
- Escort new and established patients to exam room, performs intake including vitals
- Evaluate need and perform spirometry and Asthma Control Test
- Gather/enter/update patient information in the EMR; review medications and allergies with patients and record pharmacy information for each patient for E-Prescribing
- Maintain an adequate supply of inventory in each of the exam rooms while ensuring the cleanliness of the examination room
- Assist physician with special procedures and examinations
- Prepare and administer vaccines and medications with physician’s orders
- Perform initial skin/patch testing for provider to read result
- Maintain the organization of the sample medication closet to be clean and organized
- Obtain results from outside labs, radiology, and other provider offices
- Provide patient education for treatments, medications, diets and physician instructions
- Ensure patient results and correspondences are reviewed in a timely manner by the physician and appropriate follow up is performed according to the physician’s direction
- Complete other tasks as directed by physician
- Observe patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Any other clinical tasks directed by the provider
