Position Summary

The Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) in Hematology/Oncology is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and other infusion treatments. This role requires clinical expertise in oncology nursing, strong critical thinking skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, blood products, and supportive infusions in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
  • Monitor patients during treatments for adverse reactions and respond appropriately to emergencies or complications
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs
  • Access and manage central lines (e.g., PICC lines, ports, and central venous catheters)
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, potential side effects, symptom management, and home care instructions
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ensure compliance with oncology safety standards, including safe handling and disposal of hazardous drugs
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
